1.
Clean lines, generous views and natural materials
combine to form a warm, yet bold, entry statement.
2.
Custom-designed stacked lacquer blocks embedded
in the wood spine wall are a sculptural reference to
the individual colors used on each floor.
3.
A millwork spine wall is a subtractive volume
within the space that travels the length of the entire
northwest side of the building, clearly defining the re-
ception floor.
4.
The custom-designed boardroom table is inlayed
with the same lacquer colors for self-similar detailing
at all scales throughout the design.
5.
The blue floating “cube” houses a hospitality copy
and printing function complete with all supplies to
accommodate visitors to the reception and confer-
ence area.
6.
The newel post at the bottom of the new open com-
municating stair was designed as a sculptural ele-
ment to capture the imagination.
\\
used on each “typical” attorney floor to differentiate
them from one another. They are a bold statement of
how the different floors come together to celebrate
the diversity of generations, work styles and individ-
uality within the firm. Additionally they are a subtle
reference to the “stacks” of law books that have be-
come relatively obsolete in today’s world, but remain
rooted in law firm cultural history.
* The project won the 2016 American Society of In-
terior Design’s Best Commercial Space Over 15,000 SF.
