Game Changers: Tools Require New Paradigm
J
ust off the heels of Denver Startup Week,
never is there a more relevant time than
now to discover how emerging technologies
are fundamentally shifting the ways in which we
communicate and interact in the office. So we’ve
gathered a trending list of game-changing tools
that demand a new paradigm about what it means
to go to work and transform the way we collaborate,
communicate and compute.
As we all can attest, emerging tech trends are im-
plemented across the country at a variety of paces –
from a gradual adoption to an energetic clip, our local
survey weighs in on Denver’s point of view.
Here are 10 intensely interesting new technologies
that are changing the face of office life.
1 Virtual Sharing & Document Collaboration
The concept of sharing has suddenly changed. The
ability to share and edit documents collaboratively in
real time doesn’t just save time; it changes the entire
creative process. Through Google Docs and Microsoft’s
new Office 365, co-workers are able to disrupt the lin-
ear path of creating a document to increase efficiency.
Other virtual sharing tools such as JoinMe, Microsoft’s
Windows Remote Desktop and Apple’s Messages allow
workers to see each other’s entire desktops in real time.
“Survey Finding: 88% of remote screen share users
believe this tool adds amuch needed visual experience
to long-distance collaboration and ultimately enhanc-
es transparency between remote teams.”
2 Mobile-First Workflow
As more time is spent on mobile devices than desk-
top and laptops in 2013, software creators have embraced
mobile devices as the primary point of contact for most
users, hence the term “Mobile First” workers. Our local
survey revealed that although 79% of employers are
providing mobile devices for its staff, employees are still
supplementing their work day with two to three per-
sonal devices and slew of personal apps as well.
