But theory is like a road map on our trip to becoming better musicians. It’s an essential piece of the puzzle, along with correct breathing, warm-up exercises, and so on. If you don’t understand what’s going on in your own sheet music and can’t explain it to your accompanist, then there’s just so far you can go as a singer/ instrumentalist. Singer and vocal coach Cindy Williams knows how to make the topic accessible and fun! In this series of three interactive group classes, she gives you some of the basics to get you going. Take one or all. And while taking them in sequence would be most logical, it’s not required. Beginning Voice Workshop You don’t have to be a Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, or Tony Bennet to have a great time singing. You can learn techniques to become the best singer YOU can be! Learn practical tips from long-time singer and vocal coach, Cindy Williams . Cindy will begin by explaining the mechanics of vocalizing; we often better understand how a guitar works than how our own body produces sound. She will go on to explain and/or demonstrate correct singers’ breathing, phrasing, care of the vocal cords, and so on. Participants will receive a packet of information that they can refer to for months or years to come. At the end of this class you will have a tool kit of techniques to continue improving your own voice and a sense of confidence to get you singing at a karaoke bar or auditioning for a band or musical theater production. Whether you are new to singing or it’s just been a while, this class might just get you to experience the joy of singing! This fun interactive workshop will be conducted on Zoom. You’ll need good internet and a computer with a camera and microphone. Cindy will demonstrate techniques and participants will take turns practicing. $66 Non-Member $54 Member ONLINE : Via Zoom 1128AA: Three Tue., 6:30–8PM Begins 6/8 1128AB: Three Thu., 6:30–8PM Begins 7/15 Beginning Piano Independent Study After four individual lessons, you’ll be able to play piano and read music!
