Foremost among them is a researcher from Duke, Daryl Bem whose groundbreaking research that spanned almost a dec- ade turned heads as he was able to prove something that was considered fake and outlandish using accepted social-science methodology. It is a little known fact that the CIA has researched this field for over 23 years at the Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park under the leader- ship of Russel Targ , an emi- nent laser physicist. Through this program, psychics were documented locating a downed bomber in Africa, de- scribe the health of American hostages abroad, a Chinese atom bomb test three days be- fore it happened and much more. You may wonder then why is this not public knowledge and why is it all hidden from the public? Sadly, the evidence is there to anyone who sees but the area is filled with so many imposters that academia is more likely to dismiss this than take genuine psychics seriously. Compounding the confu- sion in the landscape is the presence of sci-fi mov- ies and TV that muddle the waters between real- ity and the imaginary. But everyone has experienced something that has be- lied rational thought, be it a sense of déjà vu or a telepathic connection to someone, or a premoni- tion of something that’s going to happen. These are feelings that science cannot explain fully as modern science is only focused on methodology that is not thorough and does not allow for individuality. Now that we can see that modern science has at- tempted to prove an abil- ity that can only be de- scribed as esoteric, let’s go back in time to our own itihasa for a classic example of what’s known in “ psi ” circles as remote viewing but this example is far more than that. The battle between the Pan- davas and Kauravas took place in Kurukshetra but the blind father of the Kauravas, King Dhritarashtra lived in Hastinapur. His ad- visor and charioteer Sanjaya, a devoted disciple of Maharishi Veda Vyasa was given the gift of Divya Drishti (divine sight). This enabled Sanjaya who already possessed the ability to see things far away in his mind be able to not just see but also hear and feel the happenings at Kurukshetra while in Hastinapur. Sanjaya’s account gives the most comprehensive account of the war among all the other versions. There are many more examples of psychic ability spanning eons and transcend- ing cultures. The Vedas were gleaned through inner vision, the ancients com- muned with spirits to give us great works of philosophy and religion, holy men and women communed with angels to help mankind through turbulent times. Maybe it is now time for us to agree that there is a whole di- mension of existence that we know very little about and focus on our inner selves. After all, we have heard time and again that the answers are within and our search will be futile if we look outward. As Daryl Targ says, “ I am convinced from the ever-growing data that most people can learn to quiet their minds and move their aware- ness from their ordinary ego- based mindset to a much more spacious and interesting perspective - nor that is not obstructed by conventional barriers of space and time. ”
